| U.S. EXPRESSES GRATITUDE FOR ROMANIAN OFFER OF DISASTER ASSISTANCE |
On behalf of the United States Government, and all Americans, we want to express our heartfelt appreciation for Romania’s generous offer to send seven forensic specialists to assist the United States in recovering from the worst natural disaster in our history. We are grateful to the Romanian people, who themselves have suffered this year through a series of devastating floods. We also have received countless offers of help from private citizens, from a wide variety of Romanian organizations, and many more expressions of solidarity in this difficult time. In this light, your offer of assistance means even more to us.
The American people are touched and deeply grateful for the generous offers of assistance we have received from more than 95 governments and international organizations around the world. This unprecedented outpouring provides both practical help and moral support, which means a great deal to the victims of Hurricane Katrina and to all Americans.
US and Romanian authorities will work together in the days ahead to ensure that Romania’s offer will be fully coordinated and dedicated to the most pressing needs.
Again, we thank Romania for this offer of assistance. It is a significant demonstration of the great friendship between our two nations.

| STATELE UNITE ISI EXPRIMA RECUNOSTINTA PENTRU ASISTENTA UMANITARA ACORDATA DE ROMANIA |
In numele Guvernului Statelor Unite si al intregului popor american, dorim sa adresam cele mai sincere multumiri Romaniei pentru oferta generoasa de a trimite sapte medici legisti pentru a ajuta S.U.A. sa isi revina in urma celui mai mare dezastru natural din istoria tarii noastre. Suntem recunoscatori poporului roman, care a avut si el de suferit in acest an in urma unor inundatii devastatoare. Am primit, de asemenea, multe oferte de ajutor din partea unor persoane particulare si a diferitelor organizatii din Romania, precum si numeroase expresii de solidaritate in aceste vremuri grele pentru noi. Prin urmare, oferta dumneavoastra de ajutor este cu atat mai mult apreciata.
Poporul american este impresionat si profund recunoscator pentru ofertele generoase de ajutor pe care le-am primit din partea a peste 95 de guverne si organizatii din intreaga lume. Acest sprijin fara precedent consta atat in ajutor material cat si in sustinere morala, ceea ce inseamna foarte mult pentru victimele uraganului Katrina si pentru toti americanii.
Autoritatile americane si cele romane vor colabora in zilele urmatoare, pentru a se asigura ca oferta Romaniei va raspunde celor mai stringente nevoi.
Multumim, inca o data, Romaniei pentru aceasta asistenta, care demonstreaza prietenia dintre Romania si Statele Unite.
