Diversity Visa Lottery

Every year the United States makes available 50,000 immigrant visas and chooses winners randomly from all over the world. For detailed information about the Diversity Visa Lottery and how to apply, visit the State Department’s DV Program page.

There is no fee required to enter the Diversity Visa Lottery. Online registration typically begins on the first Wednesday of October and ends the first Sunday of December. Individuals who are selected in the random drawing will be notified by mail between May and July of the following year.
