Continuing a multi-city tour, PD Bucharest opened “Rodeo in the US,” a photographic exhibit by the late photographer Joe Bensen, at Bacau’s “Gheorghe Apostu” International Center for Arts and Culture in Bacau (population 175,000). The event, which served as the opening cultural event for the city’s 600th birthday celebration, was attended by a crowd of local officials, teachers, local writers and artists, students and the media. Cultural Affaires Officer Kathy Kavalec opened the exhibit, and spoke about the historic roots of today’s Rodeo shows in the U.S. The guests also enjoyed a surprise concert offered by a group of children from Bacau’s National College of Art in Bacau, who sang various American songs. The audience was delighted by the children’s choreography, which included twirling imaginary lassos during their performance of the popular Romanian version of “Oh, Susana.”
