STATEMENT BY U.S. AMBASSADOR TO ROMANIA NICHOLAS F. TAUBMAN |
I was surprised today by the proposal of the Defense Minister for a withdrawal of Romanian troops from Iraq. I have the impression that not all of the relevant parties, whether within Romania or beyond, were consulted before this proposal was announced.
Romania is one of our most valued and trusted partners. We have every confidence that Romania will continue to work closely with us on our common challenges, including in Iraq and in the Global War on Terrorism.

Am fost surprins de propunerea Ministrului Apararii privind retragerea trupelor romanesti din Irak. Impresia mea esta ca nu toate partile relevante din Romania sau din afara Romaniei au fost consultate inainte ca aceasta propunere sa fie anuntata.
Romania este unul din cei mai apreciati si de incredere parteneri ai SUA. Avem increderea ca Romania va continua sa lucreze indeaproape cu noi in probleme comune, inclusiv in Irak si in Razboiul Global Impotriva Terorismului.
