It is with profound sadness that I learned of the death of Corporal Ionel Gheorghita Dragusanu in Afghanistan. It is a reminder to us that, even with the enormous progress that has been made in Afghanistan, the struggle against those who wish to return the country to the tyrannical rule of the Taliban is not over. With the help of Romania and our other valiant allies we will ensure that Afghanistan will never again be a safe haven for international terrorism.

I urge everyone to join me in praying for the rapid and complete recovery of the other soldiers wounded in the explosion and for the safety and success of all the allied troops serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Am aflat cu profunda tristete despre decesul Caporalului Ionel Gheorghita Dragusanu, in Afganistan. Aceasta ne aminteste faptul ca, in ciuda progreselor enorme din Afganistan, lupta impotriva celor care vor ca tara lor sa revina la regimul tiranic al talibanilor nu s-a incheiat. Cu ajutorul Romaniei si al celorlalti aliati curajosi ai nostri, ne vom asigura de faptul ca Afganistanul nu va mai fi niciodata un refugiu pentru terorismul international.

Ii indemn pe toti sa ne rugam impreuna pentru insanatosirea grabnica si completa a celorlalti soldati raniti in explozie si pentru siguranta si succesul tuturor trupelor aliate din Afganistan si Irak.
