Romanian alumni of US Government programs celebrate International Education Week at American Corner Iasi
Close to 100 people, alumni of US Government programs, local academics and students packed the Gh. Asachi County Library in Iasi, home to an American Corner, to celebrate the International Education Week together, meet with the Cultural Attache and listen to presentations about the Fulbright academic programs, US Government alumni activities in Romania and the State Alumni website. Professor Dumitru Oprea, Rector of the University of Iasi, a Fulbright alumnus and Fulbright Board member also delivered a presentation on how the program “changed his life.” The the first issue of the new Exchange Alumni Newsletter was also distributed, which includes numerous articles written by alumni contributors. The event was covered by local TV and radio stations, which ran reports the same day that included interviews with the Library Director, the University Rector and the Cultural Attache. In addition, the reception resulted in plans for several new alumni-related events at the American Corner.
