Spelling Contest on Thanksgiving

For the Thanksgiving Day, on November 23, 2006, American Corner Iasi organized a spelling contest on this theme.

The contestants were the fourth grade pupils (18 children) from "Funny English Center" Iasi, divided by thei English teacher into two teams. The contest had three rounds and the words were chosen from the holiday theme (holiday, pilgrims,colony, turkey, cornucopia etc). Each contestant had a chance to prove his knowledge and the points were added to his team. After the designation of the winners, while the awards were prepared, the children solved a crossword puzzle on the same theme.

The winning team received "American Teenagers" magazines and the other team was rewarded with samples of "See You in the USA". All the participants received flags of the Unuted States to remind them of this event.

Cu ocazia Zilei Recunostintei, pe 23 noiembrie 2006, American Corner Iasi a organizat un concurs de spelling pe aceasta tema.

Concurentii au fost elevii clasei a-IV-a (18 copii) de la Scoala "Funny English" Iasi, impartiti de profesoara de engleza in doua echipe. Concursul a avut trei runde, iar cuvintele au fost alese din tematica sarbatorii (holiday, pilgrims,colony, turkey, cornucopia etc). Fiecare concurent a avut sansa de a demonstra ce stie, iar punctele au fost adunate la echipa sa. Dupa desemnarea castigatorilor, in timp ce au fost pregatite diplomele, copiii au rezolvat un "crossword puzzle" pe aceeasi tema.

Echipa castigatoare a primit reviste "American Teenagers", iar cealalta echipa a fost recompensata cu exemplare din "See You in the USA". Toti participantii au primit stegulete ale Statelor Unite care sa le aminteasca de acest eveniment.
