St. Valentine’s Day vs. Dragobete
On February 21, 2007, about 40 secondary school students from two local schools (“I. Creanga“and “M. Sadoveanu”), along with their English teachers, Mrs. Dana Petrescu and Mrs. Ramona Narcisa Popa, have celebrated love at “American Corner Bacau”.
The program included a presentation of the history of St. Valentine’s Day and Dragobete, symbols of love, customs and traditions in the United States of America and Romania. The resemblances and the distinctions between the two celebrations of love were highlighted, followed by a recital of love poems and songs. An exhibit of post cards designed by the students completed the artistic program.
This activity is part of the “American Holidays” project initiated by American Corner Bacau and the two schools mentioned above.
